Great Potentials 2015

The Little Crayon of Love

Background: NZ has a horrific child abuse problem. Great Potentials Family Services centres help families to overcome violence in problematic communities. They use a series of family bonding exercises which are proven to work in mending families.

The thinking: Parenting isn't instinctive, it's learned. So we need to teach parents how to bond with their children as the stronger the emotional bond, the less likely they are to abuse.

The idea: Meet the Little Cayon of Love. It encourages all Kiwi families to do simple parent/child bonding exercises to strengthen relationships. It's one tiny orange crayon who can cause huge change. We sent out Little Crayons to homes across Auckland along with a DM activity sheet to get families spending some quality time together.

Part of the '1000 Hours Project' – an FCB initiative where FCB NZ donated 1000 hours of expertise to a chosen charity.

Creative Team: Tyne Brocklehurst, Leisa Wall, Scott Kelly.
